Meet Donald Bowens Jr.

Donald is a St. Petersburg native born and raised in south St. Pete. He is the proud father of four children, including a daughter with GDD special needs. As the Director of his family’s charity, the Melville Foundation, he is committed to creating and implementing programs that educate and support all children faced with socioeconomic barriers.

Growing up in subsidized housing, Bowens understands first hand the affordable housing crisis our city faces today with rising costs. He also understands the rapidly changing Tropicana Field and Gas Plant site, having grown up in the shadow of the stadium. Pro sports in his backyard showed him that athletics could lead to a brighter future.  

For the past decade Donald has worked in healthcare management while being involved in local youth sports training and coaching. An ally for all in our community, Donald is a passionate advocate for equality – “We are all human first. From a young age, so many individuals from different walks of life supported me to make me the person I am today. It is my duty to repay the favor."
